Technical Safety Design Engineer (Refinery / Oil & Gas) - Kuwait

CA Engineering: Oil and Gas (International Positions) have a client that is in need of a Lead Technical Safety Design Engineer (Refinery / Oil & Gas). The position will be based in Kuwait.

Overview:
Lead Design Safety/Process/Instrument Engineer, with a strong safety background
To manage and co-ordinate the overall Safety/Environmental design of the Project
To ensure that it meets Clients technical and engineering specifications as well as all relevant Statuary obligations.

Requirements:

Relevant Engineering Degree
12 years Post Gradation Experience minimum
10 years of which must be relevant to Refinery & Oil & Gas projects experience
Excellent written coordination and verbal communication skills
Hands on experience with ISO 9000 and 14000 series
Knowledge of Safety Philosophy and Statutory requirements associated with FEED and DED
Knowledge of Safety in design through integrity studies including HAZOP, QRA, SIL, ALARP etc.
Active & passive fire protection design experience
Hazardous Area Classification
Risk based maintenance
Ability to develop, update and maintain in-house technical standards and specifications

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Establish, and communicate to the rest of the project team, the applicable legislation, codes and standards to be complied with.
To establish the design bases and philosophies for safety, fire and explosion protection, fire detection, heating and ventilation systems and to co-ordinate/monitor work related to these functions developed by piping, instruments, architects and structural disciplines.
To be familiar with all relevant Departmental Procedures and ensure that any deviations from these procedures and discussed with the Manager, Safety/Environmental Engineering.
